"Whispering Anam Cara"

The location of Marsha Red Adams' studio, situated in the Red Rocks of Northern Arizona, adds depth to her inspiration - with
an opportunity for timeless wanderings through the South West landscape. Her strong love of the land, with the jewels this austere
desert reveals, accounts for the natural human, animal and plant forms dominating her imagery.
Through her special uses of the "photogram" process, the viewer
can sense a direct photographic tracing of a coyote skull or, for that matter, an actual
imprint of the human form. Pictured to the left is the installation,
"Anam Cara," comprising eleven, eight foot, life-size photogram
scrolls. For detailed information on this work, click on the

As an
Artist/Photographer, Adams has developed her own multimedia
approach. Photographic imagery often finds itself an
integral part of large-scale sculptural installation, in which physical presence invites
participation, as well as an intellectual, esthetic and spiritual
experience. (See Installations) |

In addition to the uniqueness of her approach,
the viewer is also rewarded with beautifully printed, sensual slices of nature rendered
through her keen eye for "light" raking across tactile, geographic surfaces.
Adams' photography makes use of several processes fine-tuned over
many years of work, such as multiple printing, collage, the photogram (also known as
rayogram), and more recently, she has reintroduced painting, with a somewhat subtle yet exciting
palette. She is well versed in
the photographic medium and her work can range from experimental to a more traditional form
of a single, fine art, gelatin silver print.
